Bringing Vision Care and Creativity Together at de Youngsters Day Out

This spring, Zenni returned to San Francisco’s de Young Museum as a proud sponsor of de Youngsters Day Out, an annual celebration of art, creativity, and community that welcomes thousands of Bay Area families for a day of hands-on learning and exploration.

As part of the event, Zenni provided complimentary vision screenings, immersive eye health education experiences, and a creative art activation designed to help families explore the connection between vision, color, and self-expression. Together, these experiences created meaningful opportunities for children and caregivers to learn, engage, and connect.

Supporting Healthy Vision for Families

Good vision plays an essential role in how children learn, grow, and experience the world around them. Throughout the day, Zenni’s team provided more than 700 vision and eye health experiences, helping families better understand the importance of preventive eye care and early detection.

Every child who completed a vision screening received an EyeQLenz® gift bag featuring positive affirmation frames from Zenni’s Vision of Wellness collection, encouraging confidence and healthy habits beyond the event. Children who did not pass their screening also received a $75 donation voucher to use toward prescription eyewear from Zenni, helping families take the next step in accessing the vision care they need.

In addition to screenings, families explored interactive educational experiences that demonstrated common vision conditions and eye health concepts in engaging, approachable ways. These experiences made it easier to start conversations about lifelong eye health together.

By meeting families where they are in community spaces they already know and trust, we’re helping make vision care more accessible while empowering families with the resources and confidence to prioritize their eye health.

Inspiring Creativity Through the Zenni Art Lab

Inside the museum, visitors stepped into the Zenni Art Lab, a hands-on creative space developed in partnership with Bay Area artist Erin Fong.

Inspired by Fong’s Mood Rings installation, the experience invited children and families to explore how color can represent emotions, perspectives, and personal experiences. Through interactive activities, participants reflected on the many ways we see and interpret the world around us.

The Art Lab became a vibrant gathering space for families throughout the day, creating hundreds of meaningful interactions and reinforcing the powerful connection between vision, creativity, and self-expression.

A Partnership Rooted in Access and Community

The de Young Museum shares Zenni’s belief that access—to art, education, and opportunity—can create lasting impact. Together, our organizations are committed to creating experiences that help families learn, grow, and thrive.

Throughout the event, Zenni engaged with more than 1,000 attendees and connected with hundreds of families through vision care resources, educational experiences, and creative programming.

While the activities looked different across the museum grounds, they were united by a shared goal: helping people see the world more clearly—both through the lens of eye health and through the power of creativity.

We are grateful to the de Young Museum, Erin Fong, our volunteers, and every family who joined us for a day filled with learning, imagination, and community connection. We look forward to continuing to create opportunities that make vision care more accessible while helping people see what’s possible.
