Zenni Introduces New Technology Offerings, Including AI-Powered Image Search Feature, to Create a More Seamless Shopping Experience

Image Search allows customers to snap a picture of frames they love and find a similar or matching version in Zenni’s robust eyewear catalog

NOVATO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Zenni Optical, the eyewear industry’s leading online retailer, has launched two new technology offerings to help customers more easily search and shop from Zenni’s catalog of 3,000+ frames. The new Image Search tool on Zenni’s website and within its mobile app allows customers to upload a photo of frames they love – whether from online, in print, or real life – and immediately find similar versions amongst Zenni’s expansive selection of glasses. Zenni also launched a new prescription reader tool, Prescription Scan, that lets customers skip manually entering their prescription details when shopping at Zenni.com.

Image Search and Prescription Scan are two of the many technology-focused rollouts that Zenni has planned, as the leading retailer explores new ways to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to improve customer discovery and enhance the overall shopping experience.

“We continue to streamline the discovery and purchase process to make it easier than ever for our customers to find and buy the perfect pair of stylish and affordable Zenni frames for any occasion,” said Julia Zhen, CEO at Zenni. “Our new Image Search and Prescription Scan tools help customers have an even faster and smooth shopping experience, enhancing the overall customer experience.”

By uploading an inspiration photo, Zenni’s Image Search offers a variety of similar frames to review and virtually try on before buying, letting the customer skip the manual search process. Shoppers will see the “Image Search” icon on Zenni’s website navigation bar via desktop or mobile view and the tool can also be used on the go via the Zenni mobile app. In addition to being able to upload an image, Zenni has a host of stock photos shoppers can choose from to find a desired style that corresponds with a Zenni frame.

The new Prescription Scan offering allows customers to take a photo and upload their prescription, eliminating the need to decipher a doctor’s handwriting and skip manual entry. It can then be saved to an account, so customers can easily access the prescription for up to two years, saving time every time they shop.

“The retail industry is in the midst of an AI revolution with new innovations and applications coming out daily and Zenni is on the forefront of investing in new tools to ensure the most optimal shopping experience for our customers,” said David Ting, Zenni’s Chief Technology Officer. “Image Search helps address a real need, as we know visual search is increasingly important to today’s customer, especially Gen Z, and Prescription Scan helps our customers move through the purchase process even faster and without any friction.”

Starting at just $6.95, Zenni offers a variety of premium frames that can be customized to preferred lens specifics including prescription, blue-light blocking, sunglasses, colorful tints and more. For more information, please visit Zenni.com/press.
