What’s the difference between Blokz®+ Tints and the standard Blokz® clear lenses?
- Blokz®+ Tints is an advanced solution for digital eye strain that specifically targets blue light up to 455 nm (where most blue light from digital devices peaks), whereas the standard Blokz® lens blocks blue light up to 420 nm. Additionally, Blokz®+ Tints is available in 11 different color tints: Amber, Amber 30%, Gray, Gray 30%, Blue, Green, Green 30%, Orange, Purple, Rose, and Yellow.
- It is important to note that moderate to high prescription strengths may result in a darker tint due to the increased lens thickness. Individuals with a significantly stronger prescription in one eye (vs. the other) may see a darker tint in one lens due to the difference in lens thickness.
What sets Blokz®+ Tints lenses apart from regular clear lenses?
Blokz®+ Tints lenses stand out from traditional clear optical lenses by providing dual protection against blue light, especially from digital screens. This enhanced protection is achieved through both integrated blue light filtering within the lens material and an additional blue light reflective coating. It's important to note that Blokz®+ Tints lenses are only offered in color tints because of the advanced blue light blocking properties within the chemical makeup of the lens.
*How much blue light protection do Blokz®+ Tints lenses provide?
Blokz®+ Tints lenses offer comprehensive blue light protection up to 92.73% HEV (400 - 455 nm) blue light blockage or 87.04% total (400 - 500 nm) blue light blockage depending on the color you select.
What lens options are available for Blokz®+ Tints lenses?
- We offer non-prescription, single vision, and progressive Blokz®+ Tints lenses.
- Lens options include 1.61 High-Index and 1.67 High-Index for single vision and progressive lenses. Hi-index lens monomers are made from MR by Mitsui Chemicals. High-index lenses are eyeglass lenses that are designed to be thinner and lighter than regular lenses. If your prescription is higher than -4.00 or +3.00, select 1.67 for a thinner and lighter lens.
- Currently, readers or bifocal Blokz®+ lenses are not available.
Will Blokz®+ Tints lenses impact the colors I see?
Color perception varies based on tint and lens thickness. For activities requiring precise color perception (e.g., graphic design, photography), note that there may be some interference, particularly with moderate to high prescription strengths.
Can Blokz®+ Tints be worn while driving?
Blokz®+ Tints are not recommended for driving at night. They can be worn while driving during the day, however please note that colors may appear slightly distorted or different than expected depending on which tint of Blokz®+ Tints you are wearing.
Do Blokz®+ Tints get darker outside in the sun?
No, Blokz®+ Tints are not photochromic, meaning their tint does not change in response to UV light. The darkness of the tint stays consistent whether you are inside or outside. However, Blokz®+ Tints have 100% UV protection, meaning they are designed to shield your eyes from the sun and can be worn as sunglasses if desired.
Do Blokz®+ Tints lenses require special care or cleaning?
These lenses can be cleaned like any other glasses, using a lens cleaning spray and cloth. If you’re looking for a great lens cleaning kit, we recommend our Wash & Dry kit which comes with an isopropyl alcohol spray and mini microfiber cloth. For quick cleaning convenience, we also have pre-moistened wipes with a new and improved ammonia-free solution that removes smudges and dirt without leaving residue.
